ZXY1527 audio isolation transformer. Permalloy shielding, 1+1:1+1 configuration, 8-pin layout, 20 Hz - 50 kHz within +/-0.5 dB, THD below 0.01%, isolation at least 1500 Vrms.
Overview. The ZXY1527 is a passive, shielded audio isolation transformer built on a high-permeability Permalloy (Ni-Fe alloy) core. It is supplied in a 1+1:1+1 winding configuration with an 8-pin terminal layout and is available in multiple standard impedance ratios, including 600 ohm : 600 ohm and 10k ohm : 10k ohm, for flexible system integration.
1+1:1+1 describes the winding arrangement rather than a single ratio. There are two primaries and two secondaries of equal turns, each pair brought out to its own pins, so the same transformer can be connected as a straight 1:1 across one primary and one secondary, or with the pairs paralleled for lower impedance and higher drive, or in series where the circuit needs it. The 8-pin layout is what makes that choice available at the board rather than at the order desk.
High-permeability Permalloy (Ni-Fe alloy) core. Minimal hysteresis loss, which is what keeps distortion down at low signal levels.
20 Hz - 50 kHz, flat within +/-0.5 dB. The response reaches well past the audible band, so phase and amplitude stay steady at the top of the audio range.
THD below 0.01% at rated level. Distortion sits below the resolution of most measurement chains, rather than being merely low.
Common-mode noise rejection above 90 dB. Interference induced on both signal lines is rejected, not just attenuated.
At least 1500 Vrms isolation. Primary to secondary isolation for signal separation and safety in critical installations.
Insertion loss typically below 0.3 dB at 1 kHz. The transformer drops almost no level, so it can sit in a chain without a make-up gain stage.
Multiple standard impedance ratios. 600 ohm : 600 ohm and 10k ohm : 10k ohm are both available on the same 1+1:1+1 platform.
1+1:1+1 winding configuration, 8-pin layout. Two primaries and two secondaries brought out separately, so the windings can be series or parallel connected as the circuit requires.
Shielded construction. The metal case and internal shielding suppress EMI/RFI reaching the windings.
-40 °C to +85 °C operating range. Industrial temperature coverage for equipment that is not in a climate-controlled room.
Industrial-grade build. Stable, repeatable performance over time rather than a bench-grade part.
Wideband, flat response. Covers the full audio range and beyond, so the part does not define the bandwidth of the system it is fitted to.
Excellent linearity. High initial permeability and low coercivity keep the magnetic response linear across the operating range.
Galvanic isolation. Breaks ground loops and removes hum and buzz between equipment on separate earths.
Minimal signal attenuation. Insertion loss under 0.3 dB at 1 kHz preserves level, so no gain is lost to the transformer.
High isolation voltage. 1500 Vrms or more between windings gives both signal separation and a safety margin.
Consistent in demanding environments. Performance holds in professional and industrial conditions rather than drifting with temperature or age.
In a signal chain the transformer is the only component that separates two grounds without adding a stage. Because the insertion loss stays under 0.3 dB and the response stays flat past 20 kHz, inserting it does not change the level or the tone of the system: what goes in comes out at the same amplitude, with the ground loop left behind on the other side of the barrier.
Audio mixing consoles. Impedance matching and isolation for balanced console signal paths.
Broadcast and transmission. Clean, isolated audio for broadcast and transmission equipment.
Studio recording gear. Low-distortion isolation for microphones, preamps and studio signal chains.
High-end Hi-Fi systems. Eliminates ground loop hum while preserving detail in premium audio systems.
Consoles, broadcast chains, studio racks and Hi-Fi systems all share the same failure mode: two units on different earths, joined by a cable screen, humming at mains frequency. Placing the transformer at that join removes the loop. In a console it also serves as the impedance interface between a 600 ohm line and a higher-impedance input, or as the 1:1 element when the levels already match.
